With Christmas and the New Year just around the corner – it’s a great time to see what exciting new updates and models MINI has in store for 2015.

2014 has been a superb year for MINI with its third generation model scooping the coveted Auto Express Car of the Year award.

Next year is shaping up to be just as exciting with a MINI convertible on the way as well as the super sporty JCW MINI and a new Clubman variant.

Take a look below as we profile some of the highlights to come in 2015 from this classic British brand.

JOHN COOPER WORKS MINI

Set for its official unveil at the Detroit Auto Show next month – the new MINI JCW will boast the most powerful engine ever seen in a production MINI.

A 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo powertrain delivers 227bhp and 320Nm of torque combined with a sport inspired suspension, brake, aerodynamic and interior package.

When compared with the outgoing MINI JCW – this model offers 10 per cent more power and 23 per cent more torque meaning the 0-62mph time has been reduced by 0.2 seconds to a rapid 6.3 seconds with the six-speed manual gearbox.

The 0-62mph time is down 0.6 seconds to 6.1 seconds with the optional six-speed Steptronic sports transmission.

Thanks to the increased levels of torque - acceleration between 50-75mph is 10 per cent faster at 5.6 seconds with a satisfying noise emitted from twin tailpipes of the sports exhaust.

Staying true to the MINI style – the fun of driving does not mean poor fuel consumption – on a combined cycle with the manual gearbox, the JCW can manage 42.2mpg and CO2 emissions of just 133g/km.

Utilising the optional Steptronic sports transmission, fuel economy improves by 20 per cent to a frugal 49.5mpg with CO2 emissions of just 133g/km.

Features including Dynamic Control (DSC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) Electronic Differential Lock Control (EDLC) and Performance Control mean drivers of all abilities can get the maximum enjoyment from their MINI JCW.

Exterior styling touches include a model-specific rear apron and a JCW spoiler separate this model from the standard 3-door MINI hatch.

MINI CLUBMAN

The new MINI Clubman made its official debut at the Geneva motor show ahead of its 2015 release and is set to be bigger and more stylish that the outgoing model.

Instead of the third ‘Clubdoor’ set-up from the previous model – the new Clubman will now utilise a more traditional four-door layout.

At the rear, two ‘barn-doors’ are retained in order to provide access to the boot – turning the new Clubman into a six-door vehicle.

A sportier profile was also on display at the Geneva Motor Show in March with a sloping roofline and less perpendicular back end housing tail-lights that are mounted horizontally rather than vertically.

More room for luggage is expected when compared to the current generation Clubman along with a more quality based interior with wood and leather aplenty.

Concrete engine details are yet to be announced however the sportier Cooper S model will certainly come with the same 2.0-litre turbo as the hatchback.

The Clubman will be on sale from the start of 2015 with prices beginning at around £15,000.
