MINI Hatch Named Best Supermini By Sunday TimesMINI has always been a natural born award winner and going into 2016, the new car is no exception to the rule.
The Sunday Times has awarded the new MINI hatch its coveted best Supermini award. The Times judges praised the MINI for its spacious and luxurious interior, refined driving characteristics, noise vibration and harshness isolation, the quality of its fit, finish and materials.
The new MINI Twin Power Turbo petrol and diesel engines were especially praised for their sophistication and all round performance. With 1.2 and 1.5 litre, 3-cylinder petrols and 1.5 litre diesels, the MINI returns a fuel economy of up to 83mpg with CO2 ratings as low as 89g/km.
Even in its spiciest variations, the MINI returns exceptional efficiency and cleanliness despite the performance levels. 47mpg combined from the 2-litre turbo Cooper S model meets with a 0-60mph time of around 7 seconds.
Technologically the MINI hatch is ahead of the pack too. The newest model is packed with gadgets and gives in-class debuts to features like LED headlamps and emergency call (E-Call).
In 2014 a 5-door hatch was added to the range, giving improved rear leg room, a larger boot and a third seat to the back row, alongside the two additional rear doors.
Now in the third iteration, the MINI continues to set new standards and impress the motoring industry as it does the car-buying public. Building on the reputation of its predecessor, the MINI is as iconic a supermini as it has ever been.
